Our collection, our programs and our spacious rooms are designed to meet the developmental and social needs of your children. View our department policies here.

Programs

We offer a selection of in-person, virtual and take & make programs for Birth-Grade 6. In order to register for programs children must have their own HBPL library cards. Library cards are given at birth, please go to the Circulation Desk to get your child their very own card.

Program registration can be done online at https://hamptonbays.librarycalendar.com/, by phone at 631-728-6241 (option 6), or in person beginning on the date specified in the current bimonthly newsletter.  Email registrations will NOT be accepted. Each child must have their own HBPL library card in order to register.

Please arrive on time for all programs. Latecomers may not be permitted entry depending on the program. Parents/caregivers are always welcome to bring younger and/or older siblings of the registered child to a pre-school program. However, if the children are both/all of the program’s specified age each one must be registered separately to guarantee the proper amount of supplies.

Our virtual programs are are either posted on our Facebook pageYouTube channel or emailed from childrensroom@hamptonbayslibrary.org at the specified date and time in the newsletter. If you are registered for a virtual or take & make (kit only) program you will receive a phone call when the kit is ready to be picked up.

Our No Child Left Inside Programs occur at least once a month. Too much time indoors with television, video games, computers and any of the technological devices available can be harmful to our children.

These skills develop in the first five years of life & your child’s early experiences with books & language will build a foundation on which they will learn to read.

Use your library card to access databases, online tutoring, language learning, e-books, movies, TV and more.
